Asset Of Pakistan

A very proud moment for Pakistan, as an Academy award is presented to a Pakistani. Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, is an activist, journalist and director. She completed her Alevels from Karachi Grammar School, later went overseas for higher studies. Sharmeen Chinoy examined the quandary of Afghan refugee children for one of her articles, and that is how her journey toward a documentary director began.
Sharmeen Chinoy won an Emmy award for her documentary “Pakistan:Children of taliban”, in 2010.She is the first non-American to win the Livingston award for young journalist and the first Pakistani to win an Oscar in 2011 for her documentary film “Saving face”. The short film was based on the survivors of acid attacks.
Once again Sharmeen Chinoy has brought pride to Pakistan as she won her second Oscar for her documentary film”A girl in the river: the price of forgiveness”.
Our best wishes for her future.
Congratulations, Sharmeen
