The Pilot

In 2006, seven women broke through the highly traditional, patriarchal society of Pakistan and graduated as fighter pilots. Marium Mukhtiar was one of these seven amazing ladies. She always wanted to be different and that is what inspired her to join the force. She says in an interview that it is very challenging to be a female pilot in a male dominated society. But she showed us, through her outstanding achievements that hard work and dedication is all that you need to achieve your goals.
This beautiful, brave soul left us today and embraced martyrdom in a plane crash near Kunidan, in Mianwali.
Marium Mukhtiar is the first female pilot from PPAFto attain this great honour. We are proud of you, Marium. Your nation is proud of you.
Rest in peace, comrade.
